Emergentally (Kenya) · Nairobi · Full-time · KES 100,000–140,000 gross per month
Emergentally builds and maintains data platforms that help governments, UN agencies and development partners manage and report on development finance. Our platforms are used in Liberia and Nigeria, with new countries in progress. We're a small, distributed team working across Africa and Europe.
Our platforms are only as good as the data in them. You'll make sure that the government officials and development partners who use them can do so confidently, and that the data they report is useful for decision-making purposes. You'll be the first point of contact for users, run training, follow up on data quality, and turn what users tell you into clear requests for our developers.
- Run the helpdesk: respond to and resolve user queries within agreed service levels, and pass technical issues to developers with clear descriptions.
- Support users with data entry, reporting and using the platform, mostly remotely and sometimes in person.
- Onboard new organisations and users, and manage accounts and access.
- Run regular data quality checks (using simple SQL queries and reports) to find missing, late or inconsistent data, and follow up with reporting organisations to get it fixed.
- Help users align their reporting with results frameworks and indicator definitions.
- Design and deliver training, workshops and webinars.
- Maintain user guides, FAQs and a knowledge base.
- Produce monthly support and data quality reports.
- Test new features from a user's point of view before release.
Required
- A bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Data Management, Computer Science, Statistics, Economics or a related field.
- At least 3 years' experience in M&E, MIS or data management, including hands-on work with a database, results management system or dashboard.
- Working SQL and strong Excel skills, plus experience with a reporting tool (e.g. Power BI, Metabase or open-source alternatives).
- Experience supporting or training users, ideally in an NGO, UN or government setting.
- Excellent written and spoken English: you can explain things clearly to busy, non-technical people and understand and help solve their problems, even in an unfamiliar context.
- Based in Kenya (preferably in Nairobi).
Nice to have
- Familiarity with aid data, IATI or public financial management.
- Experience with results frameworks, indicators or SDG reporting.
- Experience with DHIS2, KoboToolbox or similar systems.

- A competitive salary: KES 100,000–140,000 gross per month, depending on experience.
- Meaningful work with governments and development partners across several countries.
- A small, supportive team, with mentoring and room to grow into data analysis or product roles.
